Sessions will take place on Zoom. Please be sure to have an up-to-date version of Zoom on your device (I recommend a computer, but I have many clients who work off their phone.) You will receive a zoom link prior to your session via email. Please reach out for assistance if you need any help logging in.
At some point, we'll likely be using the floor for exercises, so either a Pilates/Yoga Mat or a towel/blanket would work.
No other pieces of equipment are necessary, but if you have some available we can put them to use. Some props that I would suggest include resistance bands, stability balls, weights and foam rollers.
Clothing should be comfortable and allow you to move freely. I would caution against shorts that are short or too loose fitting as they may feel revealing in certain positions.
None needed! This session is for you, so don't worry about trying to prove anything. We're going to work together to make sure we're on the same page with your needs and goals.
Please reach us at Lauren@BrilliantBodyPilates.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Brilliant Body Pilates and Fitness is a "virtual studio" created by Lauren Valentine. With almost two decades of experience, Lauren has built a reputation helping those with injuries and imbalances, as well as, those who don't like routine, monotonous workouts. Brilliant Body Pilates brings a holistic approach to exercise: Utilizing movement to heal the body, clear the mind, and lift spirits.
Since every session is built for you and will change depending on your readiness (energy, injuries, stress, mood, etc..) there isn't a typical per say. But generally, we will start with foundational movement (breathing, joint articulation, stretching, myofascial release etc...), engaging core muscles (deep muscles that stabilize the trunk, as well as, balance shoulder girdle and hip joints), strengthen and balance locomotive muscles (those that help with everyday activities and sports) and overall create more awareness and efficiency in the body.
Brilliant Body Pilates and Fitness is a virtual studio operating in Chicago, Illinois, which is Central Time Zone.
Reach out via the Contact Link or email Lauren@BrilliantBodyPilates.com to check availability.
Each session is 50 mins which allows for warm-up, core engagement, strengthening and accessory work, as well as recovery.
Ideally, I'd like to see new clients twice a week, or once a week with some regularity to build a foundation. For those of my clients who only train with me, I see two to three times a week. While others, who might train with me to supplement their own exercise routines, might see me weekly or even bi-weekly.
Maybe! Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, or DOMS, do happen from time to time, depending on our goals for the session and for the individual. However, we want to challenge your muscles and gradually increase load over time, thus your DOMS should be tolerable... most of my clients report feeling soreness with a sense of pride like they've accomplished something, rather than remorse every time they move. But regardless of whether you feel DOMS or not, you should feel better, taller, stronger than you did before your session!
Introductory sessions are for new clients only.
There is a 24 hour cancelation policy. I understand many things are beyond our control and I do my best to accommodate changes whenever possible.
All packages expire within four months of purchase. Please consider this when deciding on the volume of your package.
