To motivate and cultivate each individual's best performance.
To provide greater knowledge and understanding of the body.
To improve the individual's quality of life through better movement and breathing.
To create an experience that is rewarding, fulfilling, and fun!
We've all been there at some point. Whether it's a busy schedule, a physical set-back, lack of interest or even lost hope; we've gotten out of your exercise routine, (or maybe never one in the first place) and it's hard to get motivated to move again. I'm here to help! Through encouragement, accountability, and exercise expertise, I will support you physically, mentally and emotionally on your journey back to health.
Whether it be from repetitive overuse, or a sedentary lifestyle, our bodies show us signs that they need attention. Aches, pains and stiffness don't have to be accepted as part of aging. We can create balance in our musculosketal system by moving and creating stimulus in the body through proper breathing and movement mechanics.
While Prehab is l recovering from an injury or feeling the daily grind of life catch up with you, we can work to make your body feel better. For people undergoing physical therapy, we'll focus on keeping the rest of your body moving, and support the PT you're already doing. Whatever the reason you're in pain, we'll avoid the adage "no pain, no gain," and instead, operate with a "work smarter, not harder" mindset.
Whatever sport you play, your body will adapt to that particular movement. Over time if that movement doesn't have much variety it typically creates imbalances that show up as pain or lower performance. By training different movement patterns and breaking up routine patterns, your body's tissue will be more resilient and you will have more longevity in your sport.
If I didn't love golf personally, I would certainly have a problem with it from a fitness standpoint... it's repetitive and on-sided. Fortunately, my training as a Pilates instructor, and a personal trainer with focus on functional movement, allow me to improve your body's range of motion, force/power and balance, while also restoring alignment, joint health and efficiency.
Being hypermobile is harder than it looks. Most people don't understand the additional effort it takes for an individual to hold themselves in a safe posture. Exercise can be challenging because range of motion is great, that it can be hard to feel where one is in space. That's how I found Pilates, I was a dancer who needed to understand how to control my own flexibility. With slower controlled movements to create proprioception and motor control, as well as loaded isometric to strengthen the body in a safe progressive way, we will together to find a strong and stable version of you.
While your body is going through changes it's important to take time to keep up with it's needs and feel in tune with yourself. If you're Pre-natal, we'll focus on breathing, postural changes and discomfort, overall strength, and balance. If you're post-natal, we'll focus on allowing your body to heal as we build up core strength and overall stamina gradually.
You might see Rosie during your session lounging in the background, pawing for some pets or trying out some new moves with you.
My favorite pastime is both challenging and rewarding. It also reminds me of what it's like to be student learning and refining a skill.
My husband, Paul, is both my companion and my explorer, always looking to take a trip, especially if we can golf.
